IFAP/CGU Safe Way Awards Scheme

We invite you to meet the challenge

IFAP's 31th annual Safe Way Awards are now running for 2010. Proudly sponsored by CGU, the awards attract entries from all industries across WA. 72 organisations were recognised for their achievements in safety in 2009.

Held on an annual basis since its initial introduction in 1979, the Safe Way Awards Scheme is designed to encourage all industrial and commercial enterprises, large and small, to improve their safety and health performance.

Find out how your organisation can participate here.

The 2010 IFAP/CGU Safe Way Awards recognises organisations who achieve a high level of safety standards in the following categories:

1. Lost Time Injury Performance Category

  1. Achieve six successive calendar months without an LTI; or
  2. Nominate and achieve a percentage reduction in the recorded LTIFR.

2. Safe Way Achiever Category

There are four levels in this category: Platinum, Gold, Silver and Bronze.

Using a combination of self-audits, random desk-audits and supporting documentation, organisations are assessed to determine their commitment to safety through excellence in training, established systems and procedures and achievement of safety objectives.

Presentations of the IFAP Safe Way Awards take place at official functions including the SKILLED Gala Dinner.

SKILLED Safety Innovation Award

The SKILLED Safety Innovation Award will acknowledge and reward organisations demonstrating a strong commitment to safety through the establishment and practice of leading safety solutions within their workplace.

The SKILLED Safety Innovation Award will be awarded on the basis of leading edge safety initiatives undertaken by a company that will be assessed on a qualitative basis by a judging panel.

WA organisations are invited to submit a written 'case study' which outlines a safety innovation that has been developed or used by an organisation during the 2009 calendar year.

All award submissions must be received by IFAP no later than Friday 30 July.
