The Board is responsible for the overall corporate governance of IFAP, including its strategic direction and monitoring the organisation’s performance against strategic and budget targets.
The Board meets regularly in order to properly discharge these responsibilities and monitor executive management.

David Leith is a specialist in OSH communication. He was Editor of Safety WA for ten years. His doctorate was on the topic of culture and communication as they affect safety.
After completing degrees in Arts and Law, he was a journalist in Perth and London, and subsequently worked for BP in the UK and was a partner in the Perth consultancy Horizon PR and Marketing.
Dr. Irene Ioannakis

Irene is currently the General Manager of the Caterpillar Institute (WA) Pty Ltd, a joint venture between WesTrac Equipment and Caterpillar of Australia, which is the first of its kind in the world. The Caterpillar Institute (WA) is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) with a broad scope of training and assessment service delivery including the Metalliferous Mining Training Package, Automotive Training Package, and the Business Services Training package (Frontline Management, and Training and Assessment) as well as programs in post-trade or technical training, Occupational Safety and Health, and Operator Training.
Prior to joining the Caterpillar Institute, Irene was the Director (Safety, Education and Training) with the Chamber of Minerals and Energy of Western Australia Inc, which followed a period of managing her own consultancy business and lecturing at Edith Cowan.
Irene has more than 20 years experience in the education and training sectors and holds both academic and vocational education and training qualifications. She has experience across a number of industry areas including mining, building and construction, civil construction, hospitality, plumbing and painting.
Irene is currently a member of the Training Accreditation Council (TAC), a Cabinet appointment, and is the Australian representative on the International Advisory Board for the AEC.Edu Group that is comprised of Education, Training and E-Learning Groups in the Asian region.
Irene is passionate about education and training and committed to the daily challenge of making a difference.
Martin Ralph

Mr. Ralph was appointed to the role of Managing Director of IFAP in August of 2001. Previously he held the role of Operations Manager with IFAP for a period of three years.
Richard R Mehan

Mr. Mehan holds a Bachelor of Economics degree from Monash University. He has 27 years experience in the resources industry with the vast majority being in the traded iron ore industry in various roles within the Rio Tinto organisation. Mr. Mehan is in his eighth year with Portman Limited having held the roles of General Manager-Iron Ore, General Manager Marketing and Chief Operating Officer prior to this appointment as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer in early 2005.
