Occupational Safety and Health

- Development of organisation specific safety, health and environment management systems
IFAP develops safety health and environmental management systems based on relevant standards, and tailored to meet industry and organisational needs. These can be basic or more complex in order to work with the organisations current level of implementation of systems and culture. IFAP can also provide specific elements of systems where there is a need or focus. - WorkSafe Plan Assessments and AS /NZS 4801/4804 audits
IFAP can conduct systems audits to best match the organisations needs. WorkSafe Plan Assessor (WPA) suits WA based organisations and allows for recognition by WorkSafe Western Australia if the organisation achieves either silver, gold or platinum level audit results. AS/NZS 4801/4804 systems audits are suited for national organisations and those involved in Federal Government projects. - Regulatory compliance assessments
Compliance assessments provide a measure of compliance to safety and health legislation including the Act, Regulations, Codes of Practice and relevant Australian Standards. A report will indicate actions required in order to address legal requirement issues. Compliance audits can also assist an organisation to prepare for systems audits. - OSH plans and manuals
IFAP can develop OSH plans and manuals for organisations using framework documents and incorporating existing processes and procedures. OSH plans can be used to help set and measure direction and priorities. - Noise surveys and assessments
Noise surveys are used to measure noise levels in areas and/or by equipment in order to apply control measures using hierarchy of controls. The intent is to reduce noise exposures and dose to workers to below exposure standards. They can also be used to identify exposed workers who then require baseline audiometric tests. Noise assessments should also be carried out if there are any changes to equipment, workplaces or new equipment. - Hazardous substances management
Hazardous substance audits assist to identify hazardous substances in the workplace, storage, labelling segregation, emergency procedures and disposal. MSDS's are required to be available and procedures developed from these and other legislative requirements. - Hazard assessment of projects, processes and plant
Hazard assessments apply the risk management principles of hazard identification, risk assessments and controls based on the hierarchy of controls. IFAP undertakes assessments of projects, processes and plant across industry sectors and hazard groups. - Development of hazard registers
OSH regulations require all employers to develop and maintain a hazard register. IFAP can assist to develop hazard registers for organisations. These include hazards, risk assessments and controls. They also link to existing procedures, permit systems and other control measures. - Manual handling/ergonomic assessments
Strain and sprain injuries often result from manual handling and are one of the most common causes of injury resulting in significant cost and lost time. IFAP conducts manual handling risk assessments in line with the code of practice applying to all workplaces, processes, plans and equipment. In addition ergonomic assessments extend to the way people work with and relate to the working environment. Specific ergonomic assessments can improve comfort and efficiency and minimise the risk of injury as a result of long term postural issues and repetitive movements. - Critical task analysis and risk management strategies
IFAP is able to conduct critical task analysis; an important aspect for new or modified processes and plant. This assists to identify potential areas of risk or failure and appropriate control measures can be identified and implemented particularly at the design stage of a new project.
