The ICA/IFAP Induction Centre at Bibra Lake was officially opened in November 2007 by The Hon Michelle Roberts.
All equipment at the centre is operational and is arranged around a realistic operational ‘plant’, where possible. Industry has been engaged in the development of the centre, course content, and has donated much of the equipment utilised.
To date, the centre is sponsored by Woodside, BHPB, BP, Rio Tinto Alcan, WorleyParsons and Transfield Services. New Sponsor companies are welcome.
25 training modules have been designed to increase Safety Awareness using equipment that provides real life experiences through interactive scenarios, for example:
- Climbing and working with scaffold
- Walking into an excavation pit from an elevated platform
- Viewing, identifying and procedures with entering confined spaces
- Working with vessels and operational gauges, valves and instrumentation that will incorporate stored energy
- Performing electrical and mechanical isolations and tagging
Live feedback from the participants through hand held devices as they undertake the induction will ensure competency in the material being delivered.
Training was originally designed for the offshore industry but is relevant across all industries. Participants will receive an electronic Safety Awareness Induction Passport for use when entering a new work site, together with a Construction Safety Awareness Card (blue card).
Public courses are now running on Thursdays. For a tour of the centre or to make a booking please call IFAP's Customer Service Centre on 1300 IFAP 00 / 1300 4327 00.
