The aim of this course is to provide participants with the knowledge and practical skills required to be able plan the work, conduct routine checks on the forklift, shift loads in a safe manner, and shut down and secure the equipment after completion of operations.

This unit is based on the National Standard for Licensing Persons Performing High Risk Work and requires the operator to be able to:
- Plan the work
- Conduct routine checks of the forklift
- Shift loads in a safe manner
- Shutdown and secure the equipment after the completion of operations

Participants must be at least 18 years of age and can use the English language at a level that enables the safe performance of high risk as specified in the competency standards.
Successful completion of the assessment requirements will provide participants with a Statement of Attainment issued by STES (RTO Code 50091) for TLILIC2001 – Licence to operate a forklift truck.
