This course aims to provide participants with the knowledge, skills and confidence to safely launch, operate and recover the lifeboat using the systems and procedures appropriate to the particular craft. It also aims to provide knowledge of Muster Checker and Bowman duties.

On completion of this course, participants should be able to:
- Control muster
- Conduct organised deployment of lifeboat (Totally Enclosed Motor Powered Survival Craft)
- Provided leadership in lifeboat deployment and welfare of personnel
- Control hazards
- Respond to problems
Successful completion of the assessment requirements will provide participants with a statement of attainment for PMAWHS312 Command the operation of survival craft.
Participants must be fit to undertake the physical components of the training and will be asked to sign a medical declaration upon registration.
