This course is designed for those who are charged with the responsibility of operating the Lifeboat. Lifeboat operator training can be undertaken in either: Free Fall Lifeboat, Twin Davit Lifeboat, Single Davit Lifeboat or Swing Arm Lifeboat.

Overview

This course aims to provide participants with the knowledge, skills and confidence to safely launch, operate and recover the lifeboat using the systems and procedures appropriate to the particular craft. It also aims to provide knowledge of Muster Checker and Bowman duties.

Course Outcomes

On completion of this course, participants should be able to:

  • Control muster
  • Conduct organised deployment of lifeboat (Totally Enclosed Motor Powered Survival Craft)
  • Provided leadership in lifeboat deployment and welfare of personnel
  • Control hazards
  • Respond to problems

PRE-REQUISITES

Participants must be fit to undertake the physical components of the training and will be asked to sign a medical declaration upon registration.
