Security Awareness Training (SAT)

This course is designed for seafarers employed or engaged in any capacity on board a ship which is required to comply with the provisions of the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code on the business of that ship as part of the ship’s complement without designated security duties.

Overview

This course aims to provide participants with the skills and knowledge to carry out a ship security plan, assessments and actions, security responsibilities, training and equipment, preparedness drills and exercises. The training will include security-related familiarisation in: Reporting a security incident, including a piracy or armed robbery threat or attack The procedures to follow when a security threat is identified Security-related emergency and contingency procedures

Course Outcomes

On completion of this course, participants should be able to:

  • Contribute to the enhancement of maritime security through heightened awareness
  • Have the ability to recognise security threats
  • Respond to security threats appropriately
