Overview

The course is delivered by SETS Enterprises Pty Ltd RTO 52334 and covers the competency required to undertake rescue in confined spaces, as defined in AS 2865-2009 Confined spaces, as a member of a single agency or multi-disciplinary team. No licensing, legislative, regulatory or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

Required Skills:

  • operate atmospheric monitoring equipment
  • operate isolation systems
  • operate lifting equipment
  • operate lowering and hauling systems
  • operate self contained breathing apparatus and airline equipment
  • operate ventilation equipment

Required Knowledge:

  • Australian Standard (AS) 2865-2009 Confined spaces
    lock, tag out and isolation procedures
  • organisational procedures for cleaning and discarding equipment in terms of environmental management and sustainability
  • potential occupational hazards and control measures
  • procedures for atmospheric monitoring
  • purging and ventilation in accordance with national standards
  • selection, use and maintenance of respiratory devices
  • use of ropes and knots for accessing confined space

ON-COMPLETION

Successful completion of the assessment requirements, will provide participants with a statement of attainment issued by SETS (RTO Code 52334) for PUASAR025A Undertake confined space rescue.

OTHER INFO

This course can be conducted at IFAP’s North Lake (WA) training facility or at any facility that has a suitable classroom and training area.

There is a maximum number of 12 participants per program.

PRE REQUISITES

The required prerequisites for PUASAR025A Undertake confined space rescue, PUAFIR316 Identify, detect and monitor hazardous materials at an incident and PUASAR022A Participate in a rescue operation are: PUAEME002C Manage injuries at emergency incident OR HLTFA311A Apply first aid and PUAEME001B Provide emergency care OR HLTFA211A Provide basic emergency life support and PUAFIR207B Operate breathing apparatus open circuit, PUAFIR215 Prevent injury.

Over the duration of the course we will train and assess you in PUAFIR316 Identify, detect and monitor hazardous materials at an incident and PUASAR022A Participate in a rescue operation and deem you competent before you obtain PUASAR025A Undertake confined space rescue. You will still need to provide a Statement of Attainment for either PUAEME002C Manage injuries at emergency incident OR HLTFA311A Apply first aid and PUAEME001B Provide emergency care OR HLTFA211A Provide basic emergency life support and PUAFIR207B Operate breathing apparatus open circuit, PUAFIR215 Prevent injury.

If you find you have similar or equivalent units of competency we can look at a Recognition of Prior learning (RPL) to assist you in obtaining and meeting the additional prerequisites requirements.
