This unit is designed to provide students with the essential knowledge and skills to allow them to respond to incidents that will require rope rescue techniques as a member of an emergency response team, across a variety of industries.

The Vertical Rescue course conducted by Safety & Emergency Training Services is a nationally accredited course that is designed to provide students with the essential knowledge and skills to allow them to respond to incidents that will require rope rescue techniques as a member of an emergency response team, across a variety of industries.

The course covers the following areas:

  • Checking, servicing and maintaining vertical rescue equipment as well as safe work limitations.
  • Safe and effective scene management procedures, edge protection
  • Scene assessment and reporting
  • Establish, maintain, monitor and use ascent, descent systems and safety systems
  • Treat and package casualties, including stretcher rigging.
  • Escorting stretchers in raising and lowering operations.
  • Work in a team.

 

Successful completion of the assessment requirements, will provide participants with a statement of attainment issued by SETS (RTO Code 52334) for PUASAR032A Undertake vertical rescue and PUASAR022A Participate in a rescue operation.

This course can be conducted at IFAP’s North Lake (WA) training facility or at any facility that has a suitable classroom and training area.

There is a maximum number of 12 participants per program.

HLTFA211A Provide basic emergency life support (or equivalent).
